Happy Hump Day! I planned on posting this yesterday, but the correct size for one of my favorite recent purchases (the Steve Madden booties) wasn’t coming in the mail until today. I wanted to make sure I liked them before adding them to the post.
These are my most-loved items I’ve bought over the last month or so. I’ve done a couple of other posts like this in the past, but this time, I also wanted to add the items that I wanted to love, but ended up returning. Hopefully, this helps any of you who need some style inspiration or are wondering about a particular item of clothing!
Favorite Recent Purchases
I can honestly say this was one of the best style purchases I’ve made this year. And they were on sale for $55 as part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I had purchased Koral’s lustrous leggings right before the Nordstrom sale began so I wasn’t in the market for another pair, but the Koral leggings didn’t end up working out (scroll to the end of the post to find out why). So, I immediately snagged this similar Alo pair before they were sold out. I now have regrets about not purchasing them in black as well!
While I was lucky enough to get them on sale, it would be worth it to purchase them at full price. A big pet peeve of mine is when pricier leggings are not opaque, but these are both thick and of good quality. The website recommended sizing up so I ordered a small instead of x-small. That ended up being the right choice! The x-small still would have been fine, but the larger size makes them a bit more comfortable and easy to take on/off. Highly recommend!
I had my eye on these from the moment the Nordstrom sale began. They also come in gray and a sparkly material. For the first week that the sale was only open to cardholders, I checked the stock on a daily basis because I thought for sure they were going to sell out before I could access them in the public sale. Somehow they didn’t!
I’m typically a size 7 in Steve Madden’s shoes so I ordered them in my usual size. Once I tried them on, I was surprised at how snug they were. Many of the reviews also warned that they were (highly) difficult to get on and off. I can definitely confirm that. I’m fairly sure I expended half of the calories I ate at lunch while trying to do so. Long story short, I ended up sending them back and ordering a 7.5. I could have gotten away with the size 7, but my toes on one foot were a bit cramped.
Framed in Jade Rose Embroidered Top (almost sold out, but restocked often)
I found this clothing store awhile back via Instagram, but didn’t purchase anything from them until a month ago. I loved the floral print and sheerness for summer and thought it would be pretty to wear in the fall. I’m not one to go for girly and floral prints, but the dark florals caught my eye.
They currently only have a medium in stock, but keep checking back. It’s been a popular top so I’m sure they will be restocking soon!
I recently posted about my favorite cruelty-free/vegan shampoo and conditioner brands and I mentioned this brand. I’m trying out several different cruelty-free brands so when I ran out of my Alba shampoo and conditioner, I picked up these just to compare. I love the smell of them, but haven’t loved the consistency as much as the Alba brand. Nevertheless, they definitely get the job done. So far, I prefer the Jason shampoo to the Alba shampoo, but would take the Alba conditioner over the Jason conditioner. Does that make sense?
Purchases I Returned
I wanted this bomber jacket to work out so badly! It was another purchase from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. It never even came close to selling out and it had great reviews so I was trying to figure out why in the world it was still in stock.
It was clearly well-made and thick so it would’ve been perfect for layering in the fall. It’s also no surprise that I loved the color and mix of materials. It looked great from the front, but the back came up too high and bunched up a bit. If the length had been a couple of inches longer, it might have worked out. I thought about sizing up to a small, but then was afraid the jacket would look too bulky so unfortunately, it went back. BLANKNYC always makes great jackets and denim so I’ll be ordering other things from them in the future.
I’ve been wanting a pair of these leggings for awhile, but could never decide which color and rise I wanted. I believe they come in black, navy, gray and maroon as well as high-rise and regular rise. I opted for an x-small regular rise in black.
I was a bit disappointed when I pulled them out of the package. The material was thinner than I thought it would be and they looked SUPER tiny. As I was trying them on, I actually thought I was going to bust the seems. However, I liked the way they looked on. I was initially going to exchange them for a small, but when I saw the Alo leggings at the Nordstrom sale I ended up just returning them. I might give them another shot in the future.
I’ve been on the lookout for an oversized denim jacket, but this one was just too oversized even though I purchased it in the smallest size. As with the bomber jacket, it looked great from the front, but the back was too bulky. For some reason, it didn’t look as cute on me as it did on the model. However, if you’re looking for an oversized denim jacket, you should still try this one out. It’s very affordable and on the right person, it would look great.
This sweatshirt is from blogger Julie Sarinana’s clothing line. I love her style so when I saw this cropped sweatshirt on sale for almost 70% off on Shopbop, I purchased it. The material was soft and comfortable, but the cut was the issue for me. It’s much more cropped than it looks on the model and I wanted it to be boxier. It was too tapered and didn’t look right with my proportions. If something is very cropped, I prefer it to be on the boxy side. As with the ASOS denim jacket, I think it would work on other people, but it just wasn’t the right fit for me.
Let me know if you guys have any favorite recent purchases or if you have any questions about the items above! Lots of love!
